Náš verdikt
Vivid Money is a euro account and money app from a Berlin-founded fintech, now provided by Vivid Money S.A., an e-money institution in Luxembourg. It combines a Visa card, budgeting pockets, cashback, investing and an interest pocket in one app, with three plans: Standard, Plus and Prime.
Its pricing changed in 2026, and Vivid’s marketing pages do not always match its legal price list. For this review we used the price list for retail customers (Schedule 2, effective 18 August 2026) and the general terms, and point out where they differ from the plans page.
Vivid plans and fees at a glance (2026)
| Standard | Plus | Prime | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | €4.90, waived if you keep €3,000+ or spent €1,000+ by card the previous month | €6.90 | €9.90 (or €94.80 a year) |
| Card payments in a non-euro currency | 1% over the Visa rate | 1% over the Visa rate | 1% over the Visa rate |
| Free ATM withdrawals a month | €200 | €500 | €1,000 |
| ATM fee above the allowance or under €50 | 3% (min €1) | 3% (min €1) | 3% (min €1) |
| Pockets (sub-accounts) | 3 | 6 | 15 |
| SEPA and instant SEPA transfers | Free | Free | Free |
| Physical card | €19.90 + €9.90 delivery | €19.90 + €9.90 delivery | €19.90 + €9.90 delivery |
From Vivid’s retail price list (effective 18 August 2026). The plans page advertises “fee-free global payments” and a “free first physical card”; the price list charges 1% on non-euro card payments and €19.90 for a physical card. Existing customers in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and Poland keep their old Standard terms unless they agree to the new ones.
Worked examples
1. Paying $500 in the US with the Vivid card
$500 is about €449 at the mid-market rate on our check date. Visa converts the payment and Vivid adds 1%, so about €4.49 on every plan. There is no weekend surcharge in Vivid’s price list.
2. Taking out €300 in cash in a month
Standard: the first €200 is free, then 3% on €100, so €3.00. Plus and Prime: €0, because €300 is inside their allowances. Withdrawals under €50 always cost 3% with a €1 minimum, so a €30 withdrawal costs €1 even inside the allowance. ATM operators may add their own fees.
3. A month on Standard: the account fee matters most
If your balance stays under €3,000 and you spend under €1,000 by card, Standard costs €4.90 for the month. Add the $500 payment and the €300 withdrawal above and that month costs about €12.40 in total. Spend €1,000 or more by card in a month and the next month’s €4.90 is waived; ATM withdrawals do not count towards it.
4. Exchanging €1,000 into pounds
Not possible as a retail customer on the current terms: Vivid’s price list names euro as the only supported currency for personal accounts. The general terms list 24 currencies, but only “upon availability of the feature”. If you need to hold pounds or dollars, use a multi-currency account such as Wise, Revolut or bunq.
Interest, cashback and investing
Vivid’s Interest Rate Pocket invests in money market funds through Vivid Money B.V., which is licensed by the Dutch AFM. The plans page advertises a 3% promotional rate for the first two months on up to €100,000, then 0.1% (Standard), 1% (Plus) or 2% (Prime, up to €10,000), with yearly service fees of 1%, 0.70% and 0.30%. Money market funds are investments, not deposits, so their value is not guaranteed.
Cashback is capped at €20, €50 or €100 a month depending on the plan and requires a balance of at least €1,000 or €100 in holdings. Card top-ups are free up to €200, €500 or €1,000 a month from EEA consumer debit cards, then 1%; other cards cost 3%.
Who Vivid is for
- People in Vivid’s countries who want a euro account with budgeting pockets, cashback and investing in one app, and who keep €3,000 or more in it or spend €1,000 a month by card, so Standard costs nothing.
- Prime users who withdraw a lot of cash: €1,000 a month free is generous.
- Less suited: anyone who needs to hold or exchange other currencies, send or receive SWIFT payments (Vivid says it does not support them for personal accounts), or wants a free account with a small balance.
- Less suited: frequent spenders in non-euro currencies, who pay 1% on every payment; several rivals charge nothing within an allowance.
Where you can open Vivid
Vivid lists Austria, Cyprus, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland for personal accounts. Vivid Business offers separate company accounts with their own plans.
How your money is held
Your payment account is provided by Vivid Money S.A., an e-money institution in Luxembourg regulated by the CSSF. Vivid’s general terms say e-money is not covered by the deposit protection scheme and that customer funds are kept in segregated accounts or low-risk assets. The plans page, however, says balances held at its partner bank Natixis are covered by the French deposit guarantee (FGDR) up to €100,000 per customer. Because the two documents differ, ask Vivid which protection applies to your balance before keeping large sums there.
Investments and the Interest Rate Pocket sit with Vivid Money B.V. and fall under the Dutch investor compensation scheme (up to €20,000), not deposit protection.
Our verdict on Vivid Money
| Use case | Rating | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Everyday euro account | Good | Free SEPA and instant transfers; Standard is free only above €3,000 or €1,000 card spend. |
| Spending in other currencies | Fair | 1% over the Visa rate on every plan. |
| Cash | Good on Plus and Prime | €500 or €1,000 free a month; Standard €200. |
| Multi-currency | Weak | Euro is the only supported retail currency; no SWIFT. |
| Extras | Very good | Pockets, cashback, investing and an interest pocket in one app. |
Vivid is a capable euro money app with useful extras, but it is no longer a free multi-currency account. If you keep enough money in it or spend enough by card to waive the €4.90 fee, it works well as an everyday account in Vivid’s countries. For travel spending outside the eurozone or for holding other currencies, a dedicated multi-currency account is cheaper.
